Our Story

Built the Way We'd Want a Plumber to Be.

We're plumbers, not a franchise. The Essential Trades Group started with one simple idea: fast, fixed-price, honest plumbing, the kind you'd recommend to your mum. That formula built two of the most-called plumbing teams in Queensland, on the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast.

In 2024 we brought it home to the Illawarra. Wollongong Plumbing and Hot Water is a fully NSW-licensed crew servicing every suburb from Helensburgh down to Gerroa, hot water, blocked drains, leaks, gas and every kind of emergency, 24 hours a day.

Sunny the sea turtle has been the face of our group since the start, on the vans, on the caps, and on every page of this site. Slow and steady? Not this one. He's the fast, friendly, do-it-properly attitude our whole crew works by.

His little mate the water drop turned up on a job one day and never left. Together they're a reminder of what we're actually here for: keeping the water where it belongs, and the family behind the door happy.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold NSW Licence No. 489163C and carry full public liability insurance. Every job is done to code, and gas work comes with a compliance certificate.

Are your plumbers employees or subcontractors?

Our own crew. The plumbers on our vans are the plumbers at your door, trained the same way, held to the same six promises, driving the same vans.

Do you really answer the phone 24/7?

A real person, any hour of any day, including public holidays. Genuine emergencies are dispatched straight away, and you get an arrival time by text.

Do you charge a call-out fee after hours?

No. $0 call-out, day or night. You pay the fixed price we agree before work starts, and it's the same price at 2am as it is at 2pm.

Do you work with real estate agents and strata?

Yes. We work with owners, property managers and strata committees across Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama, and can invoice the body corporate directly where required.

I'm renting, can I book you?

We'd love to help, but we need your landlord or property manager to book the job. Send them our number and we'll take it from there.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, on larger jobs such as hot water replacements and pipe relining. Ask when you call and we'll walk you through the options.
